It’s been some time since last post. Been busy to write things up about my travel adventures.
But I’m back. Better later than never.
I remember packing the one only bag before moving to South Easth Asia. A day before I attended wedding. The next day I’m in the flight.
Loved this. Flight from Riga to Istanbul and then to Jakarta.
First flight to Turkey, great service already by Turkish Airlines. Food, comfy seats and great staff.
Istanbul airport was a feeling of flying into a future. Massive airport to say.
Upon checking departure timetable we realized the flight is going to be delayed by 1 hour. Then 2 hours, then 3 then 6 hours.
Took my computer out and started working, it was early morning around 4ish am. Finally the flight was boarding and we were standing last to avoid all the crowd.
Are you Mr Griga? I was asked. Yes. We don’t have seats for you guys on this plane. Mhm. Okay. What? We don’t have you on the system.
I was like, how is this even possible, we had linked flight to Jakarta. I know, but something is wrong with the system.
First thought I had in my head. Fuck I will have to wait for another 12h or 24h and I’m already moody because of 6h delay, unslept night and early morning.
Then the service guy said.
This is your lucky day, we got a free business class upgrade to you both. My brain couldn’t comprehend nor process such information in the morning. But for a second I felt it’s a movie.
I was given a new ticket with big letters ‘BUSINESS’ that’s when I knew this is real.
My mood switched from -20C to +20C instantly. I was like wtf just happened.
I assume they sold more seats than the plane had (that’s typical for airline companies). And they had two free seats left in the business class. So it was convient to give them business class instead rather than giving me hotel and delaying my trip.
It’s luck of the right time and place.
Boarding plane there were two directions left and right. Welcome on board, can I see your ticket? Okay, you’re in business class on your left.
I felt like in the movie. No way at this stage of my life at that time I will get ticket for 3-5k eur for the business class.
I had full free service, free food and unlimited drinks, they even give you everything you need for hygene and the best part you can sleep like a human + unlimited fast speed internet.
The flight was approximately 14 hours. The flight went fast, because of the comfort I had.
Everyone around were asleep while I was trying everything. Gotta try everything right.
Things like this, change your perspective. You want to have these moments more.
It opens eyes to do more and better. It’s a life changing.
It was a great gift from Turkish Airlines and amazing start with a life in Asia.
