Welcome back! It’s been two weeks since my last post. In the last two weeks, a lot of decisions have been made and huge steps were taken to move forward that will hopefully bear fruits in the future.
Today I will write about how traveling to another country changed my way of thinking.

First Long Travel Trip at 11
I’ve always had this feeling inside of me that I should step out of my comfort zone and explore new horizons. When I was 11 years old I visited London for the first time. Everything was new to me - different culture, races and language.
I remember being an inexperienced kid who had never seen anything outside the country before. Coming back after a short family holiday from the UK, I realised that there was something more to be explored.
Thirteen Countries in Six Years
Being able to travel to different countries brought me different perspectives that helped me understand the world and its inhabitants better. For 6 years, I managed to travel and see the following countries: Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, and Austria.
The list may not seem long, but it opened my eyes and helped me better understand that we are all the same and that we are all related to one another. Moreover, there is no such thing as a single country as we are all united.
Every human is unique in its sense - the story it must tell, the race, the language it speaks, the habits or tradition or the look. I learned how to not judge and accept everyone.
Dropping the Old Bag
When I was 17 years old I moved to England and studied at an English language school. Since then I knew that I wanted to study further in university to expand my knowledge and skills.
I had to give up everything that was in my bag - old friends, the place I lived since a young age, my school, my old habits and hobbies, almost everything. I wanted to be different from the rest and this was a good reason to do so.
Eight Different Homes
After the age of 17, I moved to at least 8 different homes in the UK. You may be wondering why - it was due to family reasons as within these years we were travelling back and forth to Latvia.
I can definitely say to myself that I can live anywhere and adapt to new changes easily. All those changes reinforced me to become stronger and more open to new challenges. In 2014, I decided that I wanted to move to Scotland to start studying in university and be completely independent.
New Opportunities
My small dream to start university came true. New place, new friends, new challenges as well as new hobbies. Without the past challenges, I am not sure if I would be able to start things on my own. I must be thankful for the obstacles that I had to overcome.
If more people would understand that challenge is not a challenge but a sign to become a better person, many people would be happier and more successful as a spirit and human being.
We all are united and here for a reason. We all share something in common - let’s use that wisely.
Thank you for reading this far. The next topic will be about ‘Steps I took to become a better person’ and I will be posting it soon.
See you soon!
